DC Labor Day weekend - suggestions for a drink outside after dinner

Besides the W Hotel, any suggestions on where 10 people can go for a leisurely drink after dinner where we can sit outside? Seems the weather is going to be beautiful. We are staying at the Grand Hyatt on H Street. Thursday and Friday night we would want something near the hotel, SAturday night we are eating at 1789 and going to try to get onto the rooftop terrace at the W. Any suggestions.

Many thanks

Oyamel on 7th & D is not very far -- they have good drinks and a small seating area on the side. Cafe Atlantico a block away also has an outside seating area.
And yes, i just heard the lcoal forecast on the news and it soudns like a great week and weeknd coming up. Enjoy your stay.

Most places in the area you are asking about require you to order food to take an outdoor table (Oyamel, Cafe Atlantico and Jaleo all certainly do). If it's drnks only - you have to go the (indoor) bar area. There are outdoor bar areas in many other areas of the city, however.

My experience with both Oyamel and Cafe Atlantico later in the evening (10ish) is that they will let u order drinks and sit outside. I imagine it may be related tn how crowded they they are. So if you r going after your dinner which u indicated, u might be ok. Jaleo has neve been that flexible with us. U could get drinks and desserts though and then they will let u sit outside.

Bardo1 - please share! Upon further thought, we might be willing to travel and would love to have some options.

Try The Sofitel on 15th street downtown. I can't think of the cross street but it is around the corner from the Whitehouse...probably 15th and H. They have a lounge area outside with couches, etc. No food order required.

Regarding the W....we went by this Saturday and there was a line of about 30 people trying to get in. I think if you have dinner or stay at the hotel you can reserve a spot but not 100% sure. They were running special hotel rates since they just opened. You may want to check to see what the rates are.

The problem is finding somewhere that will sit 10. I'd suggest the bar atop the Beacon Bar and Grill, near DuPont Circle. Poste, at the Hotel Monaco near Chinatown. Bourbon in Adams Morgan.

I haven't been to Local 16, but the others suggested are great spots. I love the view from Perry's rooftop. And the weather continues to be absolutely gorgeous in DC this week.

Marvins is tiny with no real view. I thought about Lauriol, but it's always so packed (for reasons that baffle me). Could be worth checking out.
