DC hotel for a dinner meeting

Any recommendations for a hotel in DC that would have a nice private section of a dining room for a dinner meeting of about 12 people? I'll be bringing them all to DC for a meeting the next day but would like to start with dinner in the hotel and have something nicer than a meeting room dinner.

Do you have any budget limitations or a general geographic area in mind?

Don’t limit yourself only to hotels, as many restaurants also have small dining rooms. You might get a list of the top 10-20 restaurants in Washington (try a 2004 issue of The Washingtonian Magazine), and ask if they have private dining facilities. The Red Sage Grill on 14th near the White House is an excellent restaurant that also has private rooms. Take a look at http://www.redsage.com/main/main.html. The Old Ebbit Grill near the White House has private dining rooms downstairs (but no view), with very good food and it is a DC institution.(ebbit.com) For a great White House view, try the restaurant on top of the Hotel Washington, take a look at http://www.hotelwashington.com. The Willard next door may also have a roof top restaurant with views. The Willard is run by Intercontinental, take a look at their website. Another great hotel on Lafayette Park across from the White House is the Hay Adams, very elegant dining rooms, and private dining, take a look at hayadams.com

You might consider places like the Kennedy Center which has a restaurant on the roof with great views (http://www.kennedy-center.org/visito...nt_terrace.cfm), or a place like the Tabard Inn which has an excellent restaurant (http://www.tabardinn.com/home.htm).

If money is not too much of an issue, I would try one of the restaurants at the Four Seasons in Georgetown.

It sound you want a hotel restaurant.

I would consider Melrose at the Park Hyatt. It's a gorgeous restaurant and a nice hotel. A less interesting hotel, but great restaurant, would be the Four Points (i know, pretty midbrow), but one of DC's best restaurants, Cordourouy. Also, Poste at the Hotel Monaco in the Penn Quarter.

There is also the new Mandarin Oriental, with two great restaurants including CityZen.

May I also suggest one of the private dining rooms at Hotel Tabard Inn (between Dupont Circle and the White House): exquisite food, cozy, and gorgoeous.

Another possibility is one of the three (I believe) private dining rooms at the 1789 Restaurant in Georgetown. Jacket required for the men, however.
