DC Cherry Blossom peak 2016

Projected to be March 31-April 3

I was there last year at peak weekend. Watched daughter run Cherry Blossom half marathon. Very crowded but very wonderful - not just in traditional areas but blooming trees everywhere. Worth seeing at least once - even though sometimes it looked like a selfie-stick convention.

I saw the announcement this morning! I'm so excited, hope it's accurate:)

I have not seen for many years but still remember how beautiful. Enjoy.

CHANGE
The park service has changed the dates for peak bloom to March 18-23 due to unusually warm weather. The peak bloom time will actually match that of the Cherry Blossom Festival.

OMG, that's a miracle, lol!

I can't believe that I will be in DC that weekend - a full month earlier than last year when I also was there. Peak last year coincided with Cherry Blossom Half Marathon. Wonder what will happen to all those with hotel and flight reservations for later in the month.

Nooooooooo, i'll be there Easter Weekend

Revised again.

Due to fickle weather, the peak dates are now 3/23 and 3/24. That's it, just two days.

They were popping yesterday - the trees lining DCA were in full bloom.

They stillseem to need some time down at the basin. Here is a link to the Cherry Blossom Cam

looks like it is very very close to peak now, and i'll be there tomorrow.

LoriNY - expect rain and thunderstorms until about noon to 1 pm. It should be nice after that but I hope not too many blooms are lost.

gorgeous weekend in DC. a small rain shower on Friday around noon, that lasted for about an hour while we were happily tucking into lunch at Pizza Paradiso. the Cherry Blossoms were magnificent and very very crowded.
Saturday saw us at the National Basilica, with the very good fortune to hear the choir, accompanied by full orchestra, rehearsing for Easter Sunday services. Dinner Saturday night at Ambar near the Eastern Market. $49 all you can eat small plates, with cocktails and wine. highly recommend.

I am glad that it worked out well for you.
