DC/Arlington VA area - good ice cream places

Will be Christmas gift - want names of some places I can call and hopefully get a gift certificate as stocking stuffer for ice cream lover. Hopefully places that seem stable enough to not go out of business prior to his being able to use gift - since these type of places seem to come and go rather frequently. Thanks.

Check out Larry's Homemade Ice Cream (2 locations in Arlington) or the Dairy Godmother (frozen custard) which is technically in Alexandria, but is very close to Arlington. Both Larry's and the Dairy Godmother are rated among the best ice cream by the Washington Post and I don't think either will be going "bust" within the foreseeable future.

Dairy Godmother has been around a long time and is great. It's in DelRay.
Dolcezzo Gelato with several branches is fabulous.
Pitango Gelato also quite good with branches in the area.
Thomas Sweet Ice Cream on P St in Georgetown is very good.
Never cared for Larry's. Often their ice cream has crystals since it's not always real fresh.

Left off Trickling Springs Creamery which they have at Union Market in DC. Only a couple flavors, but fabulous, fresh ice cream.

Pitango Gelato is my favorite, several locations.

No more Giffords standing stores in the DC area. you can buy pre packaged in lots of grocery stores/marts.

The above addition to this thread has just made me laugh. If I get some of these wonderful documents, can I sample ice cream across the globe?
