I think we would need some additional information to help you. Where are you coming from, and what time do you anticipate getting to Newport in the morning? How senior are all of you? And how mobile? What time of year are you making your visit?

Walking the Cliff Walk is a very Newport thing to do, with nice views of the Mansions and the water, but not if there are people in your group with mobility problems. Touring one of the Mansions would (probably The Breakers) could be a highlight, but it's best to get there early to avoid the crowds if you are going in the summer months.

Come back with some more details of your trip and I know you will receive good tips and information.

Thank you. This is my first posting and as soon as I said "Senior" I thought I might not have been accurate! We are a tennis group from Fl who have taken yearly fun trips(though I don't think going to the Tennis Museum is high on our list). We are staying in a house at Wellfleet and probably will arrive about 9:30-10:00. We are all very fit and mobile and interested in everything! We are debating between Martha's Vineyard and Newport and I am voting for Newport. We might be able to do both but I am eager to figure out an agend. This is for May 1 or 2nd so we need to get going! All suggestions are welcome.

At that time of year, a visit to one or two of the Mansions would be my suggestion. They shouldn't be too crowded and they are certainly the most unique things to visit in Newport. Research them here: http://www.newportmansions.org/

Also check out http://www.gonewport.com/ which is a comprehensive site for all things Newport and will tell you what is open or not this early in the season. If the weather is nice, you could take a harbor cruise. They are a fun way to get a view of Newport from the water. There are links on the gonewport site.

I like the Black Pearl for either lunch or dinner. They have both a casual and more formal dining rooms and the best clam chowder. They have a nice outside patio too, which may be open by May 1st and is right next to the mooring on Bowen's Wharf for the Adirondack Harbor tour.

Don't see how you can be tennis players and not check out the Tennis Hall of Fame. http://www.tennisfame.com/

Have a great trip.
