Daytona Beach and ??
I am trying to plan a trip for roughly the first two weeks of October (coming from Europe). Want to spend 5-6 days in Daytona Beach, but am stuck on what else to do. I wanted St. Augustine, but find the hotels expensive, and since we need 2 rooms, that is an issue.
We don'tt want to do Orlando and have visited Kennedy Space Center the last two years. The Jacksonville beaches would be an option, but the thing with the hotels applies there too. We have been to Amelia Island (and don't care to go back). We have considered driving over to the Gulf Coast for the second part. We wouldn't mind the drive but don#t want to go all the way to Miami/Keys/etc. Any ideas or suggestions? |
What about the beaches near Tampa? St. Pete? 2.5 hours away
|
That was our idea on the Gulf Coast. We were in Indian Rocks Beach for a week in January and enjoyed it. But again, the hotel /rental prices..... need either 2 hotel rooms or a two-bedroom rental.
Will look again in that area, though. |
Greenway check this place out:
http://www.providentresorts.com/suns...hfront-suites/ They are all two bedroom units, and it is located in Treasure Island on the Gulf coast (between Indian Rocks and St. Pete Beach). We have stayed here twice and love it. |
If you're looking for a bargain, Legacy Resort in Palm Coast is 40 miles north of Daytona and 20 miles south of St. Augustine. Two bedroom unit, a few minutes from beaches. It's cancellable if you want to book something while you continue to look around and decide. Approx $110 per night!

Thanks, Clark, I wlll check that out. I did find some places on the Gulf Coast, but since we may go back there in January, I don't want to go again in October.
Oh well, planning is half the fun of the vacation! |
Greenway, New Smyrna beach is south but very different vibe than Daytona. Stay beachside and it is very nice.
St Augustine beach, then you have Flager beach and they might be more affordable. http://www.cityofflaglerbeach.com/ |
Thanks. I will check those out. We prefer to stay at/on the beach, and beachfront whenever possible.

Check vrbo.com rentals
|
starrs, believe me, I have checked there a zillion times. And Flipkey, as well.

I really like this place -

The problem with VRBO etc. is that you have to know where to look. There are hundreds or even thousands of places available. And while I love to do the research, that is just too much. Sometimes one needs help in narrowing down the location.

Excuse me?! I think that's what I did for you. ;) |
I meant geographically. I could have checked out every single two-bedroom rental in a huge radius -- not worth the trouble
Thanks all! |
