Days Inn-Springfield Mall
Has anyone stayed at the Days Inn in Springfield, VA? It seems to be very close to a new Metro station and the Springfield Mall. All the D.C.hotels seemed to be booked or are outrageously priced the week after Easter. Thanks for the feedback.

Haven't stayed there, but the area's VERY congested, suburban mall-jam, and that part of I-95 is gawdawful most of the day. Unless you are coming and going from the south of DC (and even then . . . ), you might want to consider looking in Silver Spring, Rockville, Bethesda, etc. in Maryland instead. Either way, it's a pretty long Metro ride into town, but the area where I-95 merges into the Beltway is a barrel of snakes.
You could also look for a hotel in Crystal City, Pentagon City, or Rosslyn.
You would still be in Virginia, but much closer to DC, and still on the subway line.

Well, since I live outside of DC in Maryland, I am a little biased, but I recommend staying there. There is a Doubletree just off of the Twinbrook metro stop in Rockville (Red Line). The ride into town from there is about 25 minutes (I ride it every day). There are also hotels right off of the Bethesda metro stop, such as the Hyatt. Have you tried hotels in DC a little farther out, such as the Days Inn on Connecticut Avenue off of the Van Ness Metro station? Please email me if you need more suggestions.

I commute into Washington everyday from just down the road from the Days Inn. The area is in a mess due to road construction but going from the hotel to the metro wouldn't be any problem. The metro takes about 40 minutes to get to the "mall" and one advantage is you don't have to change trains. This metro also stops at Arlington Cemetary. In case you're planning on driving to DC from there, you can easily take the HOV lanes (provided you have atleast 3 people in your car) and get to DC in 20 minutes. There's lots of restuarants in the area - usual chain stuff like Fridays - as well as some other kinds on Franconia Road. In the same area is also a Hilton and a Hampton Inn. Both of which are closer to the metro. From this area you're also within a half hour of Mount Vernon.

Thanks for all the feedback. Believe me, I'm used to congestion being from Atlanta!! I've looked into the Metro and times of travel to each tourist site, so I think we will be just fine at this location. Thanks again!
