Days Inn Savannah Historic District

Husband and son doing a college visitation tour. There must be a reason that Hampton Inn, Hyatt, Radisson and Hilton are all $180-200 and Days Inn is $89. They just need a place to sleep for the night, but is the Days Inn really seedy? Being a believer in you usually get what you pay for, unless someone can give Days Inn a vote of confidence from personal experience, we will probably book one of the others. Any recent visitors?

Well not very recently, about 3 years ago. Great location and not a bad room, just a typical Day's Inn kind of room. I think for their purpose, it would be fine.

It's been about 5 years since I stayed there, but I wasn't impressed. The room itself was OK, but the general noise level was bad. We could very easily hear people outside and in other rooms. We didn't get much sleep because of that.

We stayed at this Days Inn once....never again! Granted it was quite a while ago, but I would say it was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in my entire life. We planned to stay 2 nights, but after seeing the room and common areas we checked out first thing the next morning. The hallways had a musty, smoky smell and our room was visibly dirty in many areas. There were ants crawling around the sink and the carpet felt and looked filthy. I didn't want to go barefoot....yuck! We have stayed at the Hampton Inn which is fine and the Mulberry Inn which is very nice. Of course, they are both more expensive than the Days Inn. But like you said.....you get what you pay for.

Thanks for responses - I think we will go with another hotel.
