Days Hotel in Metairie
Can someone comment on the above hotel? I am looking into it because of the price and the location. It is not to far off from N.O., right? We need a place to stay for the wedding in French Quarter in October. Thank you.

It is right off the interstate (I-10) which will present some traffic--very congested AM/PM weekdays--and may be noisy due to traffic. I have only passed by it, never been inside--maybe check Trip Advisor. This hotel is not too far from the FQ, but a lot depends on where you are going in the FQ and the day of the week, as to how long it will take to get there from this hotel. I'd recommend knowing the route (or maybe 2) before going to N.O. May be able to help you more with more specifics.
Have you priced the Royal Sonesta and other FQ hotels? They have been running incredible deals lately. Good luck with your planning. |
Thank you Bayougal. I was hoping that you would see this post. I looked at several hotels in FQ. They are beyond my budget, room and parking fee. I don't want to spend more than $100 that was why I started to look further and willing to drive in for the wedding at Monteleone. The bride blocked the rooms at Holiday Inn Express. The cheapest room via their web site is $199 plus parking of $16.95 per day, and $4.95 per day for the use of telephone/internet/safe. Royal Sonesta is more. Do you have any rec? tha ks.

Do not, repeat DO NOT stay in Metairie if you want to be close to the French Quarter. Due to the Hurricane and many people living in Baton Rouge subsequently, the traffic along I-10 is miserable.
I don't think you'll have too big of a problem with your budget. I would try hotels in the CBD (Central Business District). There is a new Country Inn & Suites, and also a La Quinta Inn. Try both of them. |
May want to consider a bed and breakfast as well. There are many to choose from in New Orleans. The local B&B association website, www.bbnola.com, may be able to help!
I agree about the Days Hotel in Metairie. Blech. |
Thank you Mah and Dan. I appreciate your comments. I will look at your suggestions.

Looked at B&B site and found Royal Street Courtyard to be reasonable and several good reviews. I put in a reservation. Thank you fodorites. You came to my rescue again.
