Day Trips from upstate NY
 

Any suggestions on day trips (or even up to 3 days) from upstate NY? I have heard Rockport Maine is great but am on a budget. We love the ocean, short easy hikes, cheap good food, scenic rides, quaint shops, and no crowds. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Upstate is a big place. Where exactly are you located? Buffalo, Syracuse, Utica, Albany?? Here's a website I found with some ideas

I am from Schenectady, NY, near Albany NY. It is about 3 hours north by car from NYC. At the moment I am looking at Rockport ME as a possible place but am open to any suggestions on anything within driving distance. Thanks so much for your help.

Not sure exactly where you're located upstate but I recently booked a long weekend in Ogunquit, Maine. Lodging rates seemed reasonable and available in all budgets, there are some nice and cheap restaurants, quaint shops, and a beach!

Cape Cod is very nice, and it is probably a shorter drive than Maine
