The Skyway, which connects to the Indiana tollroad, currently has construction only on the bridge right after the $2 toll (2 lanes or 1 lane depending on which way traffic flow is heavier), it seems like it has been much better this summer than last summer but I never ever take it Friday night which is usually the worst with Michigan traffic, nor would I take it back into Chicago on a Sunday night.

I think the Skyway/Indiana Tollroad (90) would be a better alternative on a Saturday afternoon than continuing on 94 to the Borman, I believe the Borman construction stops around 65 where you can get back on 94 from 90. If he takes the Indiana tollroad there is also construction on that, tell him to be sure to pay attention to the signs in the construction zone, I think you need to stay over to the right to be able to connect with 94.

There's a sign on 94 right before you get to the Skyway entrance regarding the Skyway traffic condition, I've only seen a warning on it once this summer and it turned out to be incorrect.

I can't people have overlooked kettle Moraine State Park. The southern tip has gorgeous trails...It constitutes a day trip, it's about 2 hours away. The John Muir trails are incredible, lush, scenic and clean. You have to pay about $5-$10 to park from out of state. Totally worth it.
