Day trip to the Grand Canyon

Can anyone recommend a tour company for a day trip to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas?

Haven't taken one, but just make sure you know where they go. There are tours that go to the S. Rim in Grand Canyon National Park and others that just go to the West Rim on Indian land. So just be aware that there are different tours.

Thanks, Uthahtea. I did noticed that the various companies offer south rim and west rim tours. Is one much better than the other?

The West Rim is a pretty spectacular place, but pales in comparision to what you see at the South Rim. If this is your first visit to the Canyon, do NOT settle for the West Rim.

Also note that some tours will say they take you to the "Grand Canyon" without specifying a rim. Be 100% certain you're going to the National Park.

An important distance between the two is the driving time from Las Vegas. West Rim is 3 hours, South is about 7. We rented a car & went to the West Rim and took the tour from there. Our Indian guide was very friendly, posing for photos, answering questions, etc. The food was not very good though, and not really worth the extra money for the Wild West Town part of the tour.

Las Vegas to the South Rim is only 5 hours.

I am looking for the same information. I will be visiting Las Vegas for 2 nights, this is my second time there. One thing I missed out last time was Grand Canyon. I see tons of offer online. Not sure which one to go with? If I will have a rental car, does it make sense to drive there myself without joining a tour?

KapN, how much did it cost your local tour?

As Utahtea mentioned, it about a 5 hour drive to the south rim from Las Vegas. Now you have to return too so it's 10 hours of driving time. You really need some time at the canyon too, say 4 hours minimum. Now you have a 14 hour day and you've only spent 4 hours of that at the canyon, some of which will not be viewing the canyon. That's a pretty long day in my book. Can you squeeze in another day or 2? There is plenty to see and do at the south rim to take a couple of days easy.

I didn't think of that but I guess I can stay overnight at Grand Canyon. I will do a new posting on this since I was only replying to someone's post. Thx!
