day trip ideas
Morning!
I have been reading posts on where to eat and taking crazy notes. My husband and I will be staying in Rio Rancho from July 7th to the 14th. I have been around the area before but, not for a while. Any suggestions on day trips? I thought that Taos pueblo had a pow wow. Is that worth checking out?
Thanks!

There's lots to do, but what do YOU like to do???
Outdoors [hiking, biking, walking]; museums, zoo, shopping, eating out...
Taos Pueblo is great as is Acoma, which is west of Albuquerque on I 40. They are different from each other, so you have a choice.
Tent Rocks, if you like to climb a bit among amazing rock formations [go very early to avoid heat]. Head over to Cochiti Lake for a swim afterwards [don't get your hopes up as the lake is really a damed river but it is refreshing after hiking.
The ABQ Zoo is a favorite of mine.
Bandalier is a great outdoor trip, it is west of Santa Fe.
Drive to the top of Sandia so that you are there at sunset, great views. Pack a picnic dinner rather than eating at the restaurant at the top which is so so and $$$. OR take the tram up.
Lots of great museums in Santa Fe. Visit Petroglyph on the western side of ABQ.
I have lots of threads on here with similar ideas. If you click on my name after using the drop down menu and highlighting NEw Mexico, you should find them.
Give us some ideas of what you enjoy.
