Day Trip FROM Acadia/Bar Harbor Area - Tomorrow?!
 

We have been vacationing in Acadia all week and have one more day which, as of this writing, is unplanned. I'd like to take the family exploring tomorrow and maybe take a drive somewhere to do/see something outside of the Acadia/Bar Harbor area?? but not sure where to go. A destination within 1-1.5 hrs one way would be great. Cute town, a sight not to miss, shopping, etc. We have three children ages 5, 8, and 9 that are generally happy with wherever we take them!

Not sure how long a drive it is to Camden. Beautiful harbor. Auto road or hike up Mt Battie for tremendous view. Great place for a picnic. Upscale tourist shopping.

Much closer - have you checked out the Stonington area/Blue Hill Penninsula? Very small towns so not much shopping.

Schoodic penninsula?

I assume you've done some of the ranger-led programs?

Yes, our children have become junior rangers and we've attended several of the ranger programs! I'll look into Schoodic this morning...thanks for the recommendation.

I'd vote for Schoodic, too. Blue Hill and Castine are beautiful. How about taking the ferry over to Swan's Island from Bass Harbor?
