Day trip between Vancouver and Seattle

My husband and I will be driving from Vancouver to Seattle in early July (and then staying in Seattle for 4 nights). We're looking for day trip between cities (since we'll be in the car anyway). Is Mt. Ranier a viable option? Is it doable in a day? I'm pregnant so the hiking would need to be more scenic than strenuous. I've already gotten some great advice for our trip reading your posts, so thanks in advance!

Assuming you mean Vancouver BC (there is also a Vancouver in Washington)... Mt Rainier is not between the two cities. Vancouver BC is approx. 3 hours north of Seattle, and Mt Rainier approx 2 hours to the south.

In other words Mt Rainier is a doable day trip from Seattle, it's just not on the way from Vancouver.

Suze is right.

If you are wanting something scenic between Seattle and Vancouver, try the Chuckanut Drive in Bellingham.

Geez we need more clarity on this, and in a bad way.

I'm guessing (wildly) that she refers to Vancouver, BC AND THAT she merely wants a suitable "day trip (of interest)" adjacent to, but not necessarily geographically "between" the two cities.

I'm guessing Mt. Rainier would be quite suitable, and much of the driving there would be ideal for a pregnant woman who wouldn't even have to leave the car to capture lots of scenery.

You don't need to do any strenous "hiking" should you not wish to. Perhaps even a gentle drive "around" the mountain on various routes and highways would be enough.

It is easily a day trip and very suitable for what I perceive you to be asking.

Another suitable day trip I enjoy is a drive up the west side of the Hood Canal (an inlet of Puget Sound). It's a longer drive than to Mt Rainer but easily done in a long day. Since I've never been pregnant, I can't judge how much riding will be comfortable for you.

I drive south to Olympia and then north again along the canal, stopping somewhere along the way for a good shellfish lunch with a view of the canal. you can drive as far north as Port Townsend or Port Angeles or turn back whenever you wish to return to Seattle.

It's a scenic drive and one most people would enjoy, I think.

NWMale, I took the question to mean literally what it said "looking for day trip between cities"... I really wasn't trying to be a fuss-nick.
