Day Outdoors Activity in Denver
We will be in Denver tomorrow and will be free from about 12:30 pm, taking a red eye from the airport at 11:30pm. Mom and 17 Yr old son (on college scouting trip). We spent one day in Boulder and today in Ft Collins. Went to Horsetooth Resivor, Lory State Park and did some hiking. Ideally would like to spend a couple of hours doing the same tomorrow. Last minute, but hopeful for ideasl

If you are spending the night in Fort Collins, you could stop in Rocky Mountain National Park on the way to Denver. We hiked Deer Mountain a few weeks ago and missed the crowds around Bear Lake.
www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/hikes.htm Near Denver you should make a stop at Red Rocks. Also Roxborough State Park is nice for a day hike. http://cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/parks/Roxborough And Go Rams! |
Trail ridge road in RMNP is now closed due ro snow.

Thanks - this is helpful! I had Red Rocks on my list, do this helps. We have to be in Denver for a tour at 11:00, so no time ot stop on the way!

Suzette85, hope you have a good tour. You should have a beautiful day for some outdoor activities!
Fmpden, fyi the places I mentioned don't require a drive over Trail Ridge Road. |
Yes to Red Rocks. It's one-of-a-kind, and your 17 year old has no doubt heard of it. From Red Rocks, you could go to The Fort for dinner, if you have time.
http://thefort.com Looks like good weather today, for your visit to Denver. PS. RMNP is not exactly "on the way" from Ft Collins to Denver, especially on your tight schedule. You probably already know that. |
