Day or overnight spring break activities with kids..
Well we are stuck in missouri for spring break last week of march. Any great ideas for day or overnight trips from St. Louis. Unique and special things we may not have done before will hopefully keep my 10 and 12 year old and me happy! THanks

Reelfoot Lake? Have you gone to the caves that are advertised so heavily. My kids thought they were neat when they were young. Hokey yes but it was different. LMF

If you are staying in St. Louis, try the Magic House for some fun hands on activities. Also, there is Grant's Farm which has animals and fun things to do. May be a little young for your kids. Try renting a bike and riding the "Katie trail" which goes through the rural areas and has lots of beautiful scenery and places to stop.
The Arch is a must if you haven't done it. Also, check to see when Six Flags opens up. It is an amusement park just outside of St. Louis. have fun |
If the weather is nice a float trip down the current river.
My kids always like Elephant Rock State park. |
I second the recomendation of the Katy Trail. It is a wonderful place to hike or bicyle, much of the 200 miles is along the Missouri River. It passes near interesting towns like Herman and many wineries.
I'm sure you already thought of Branson. How about the Amana Colonies in Eastern Iowa? Great food, crafts, wines, hiking. http://www.iowacity.com/amanas/welcome/low_welc.html Keith |
