btw, anyone know which Gold's gym is closest to LAX? I see there are a few in Hollywood, and a couple others (based on addresses) that I can guess are in LA....THANKS

I know there's one in Venice. There is also one in Redondo Beach which isn't too far from the airport...maybe about 20 minutes with no traffic? Plus Redondo Beach is right near the previously recommended Hermosa and Manhattan Beaches.

Here's some quick directions, from the airport (even though I don't think you are coming from there...but it's something)

From the airport, you go south on Sepulveda (follow signs). About 4 to 5 miles down. (Street turns into Pacific Coast Highway at some point)

Right on Anita/Herondo/190th (the street name depends on which direction you turn...you will see the huge King Harbor sign on the southwest corner of the intersection)

Left where the street ends (a couple of blocks)

Gold's Gym will be on your left side after the Crowne Plaza hotel (about less than a quarter mile after you made the left).

P.S. Just in case...on the other corners of 190th/Anita/Herondo are a Land Rover dealer, a Phuket Thai restaurant, and a place that sells plants (I think).

Even the beach would require a shower...I still think you should consider Disneyland if you've never been. It is a great day (though expensive!) Mary

The new GETTY MUSEUM is fantastic. Plenty of outdoor vistas and plenty to see. Great way to kill a few hours in LA. Beats the beach and the homeless people sleeping on the grass.

Agree that the Getty is a must-see if it's not already on your agenda.

Near LAX, the Dockweiler State Beach and Santa Monica Beach have picnic areas and BBQ pits where you can have yourself a california cookout at sunset. The beaches have showers so you can freshen up.
