David Letterman Tickets
 

Has anyone every applied for and gotten David Letterman tickets? We are going to NYC in Sept. and I applied for tickets on his Website but I didn't know how long it might take to hear back.

My brother and I attended a show at the Ed Sullivan Theater. We got our tix via the website. Took a couple of weeks.

Good luck. We had fun but had crumby seats. The show tapes in the afternoon and you need to be at the theater by 4pm I believe.

I was in NYC last week and attended the show on Thursday night (when Tom Cruise was there). I got tickets by going on-line several months before my trip and leaving my cell phone number for the contact number (for the trivia question). I think I remember putting in the dates I would be in the city.

I didn't hear anything from the show until last week, after I got to NYC. I was contacted on my cell phone and my husband answered the trivia question correctly. The show asked if we wanted tickets for Wednesday or Thursday night and then told us to be at the theater between 2-3 on Thursday. We went at that time, waited in line, and got our tickets. And, while we waited in line, one of the staff started talking with us and ended up giving us blue cards. We found out later that we were put in a special group that came back early for the taping and got to sit in the best seats in the house! We were sitting near the area where Dave's desk and couch are, about 5 rows back. It was very exciting, and the whole experience was a lot of fun! It was all over by 5:30, and then we were on our way to a Yankees game. Hope you get some tickets while you're there too!

Had the very same experience as Lee4. Got a call the day before I left for NYC on my cell. Also had a brother who did the samething. It was great fun and well worth the time.

I also had a similar experience. I signed up for tickets on line 3 or 4 months in advance. I was able to give a cell phone number as a way to contact me. I heard nothing until after we arrived in NYC. I assumed that we wouldn't be seeing the show . But one morning, coincidentally while touring the NBC studios, I received a call on my cell phone. I had to answer a trivia question about the show. (What is the name of the announcer on the show?). After I answered it correctly, they asked me if I would like to attend that evening or the next. Since it was my birthday, I chose that day. It was a nice birthday surprise. They usually have cancellations most days and call persons on the waiting list who requested tickets for that day and left a contact number. We had to go early (around 3 pm I think) to get the tickets and then return around 4 to get in line. So don't give up, there may still be a chance to get in while you're there.

mc--our trivia question was the same as yours--just phrased a little differently ("Who is Allen Caudle (sp?)?"). I was in the back of a Sephora store when the call came through and my husband couldn't find me so he just took a guess and got it right! I wonder if this is always the question?? Glad it worked out!:)

Our question was "what does Rupert Gee own"? Didn't know so we failed. Know now.

Often, around lunchtime, Late Night interns stand outside the theater and <i>give away</i> tickets for that day's show.

Of course this isn't a plausible strategy for tourists definitively wanting tickets, just an FYI.

I think you still have to answer a quiz question though. We were offered tickets for next day's show at the Times Square Broadway ticket location. Couldnt believe we failed! Went back the next day and another intern offered us tickets and she asked the same question!
