David Copperfield?
 

Hubby and I going to Las Vegas in a couple weeks. Anybody been to the David Copperfield Show and is it worth seeing?

I went to the traveling show, not the one in LV, but I and my family absolutely loved it.

When I saw the Copperfield show in Seattle a couple years ago it was shopworn, and I found Copperfield's smarmy patter hard to take.

For less money you can see two excellent afternoon magic shows: Hilarious Mac King at Harrah's and Rick Thomas at the Tropicana. You may find two-for-one tickets at the entrances to the hotels.

Yes, yes, yes to David Copperfield! We saw him a few weeks ago here where I live. Thirteen of us went and we all LOVED it!!! It was excellent entertainment. My hubby and son and seen him a couple of years ago and invited our whole clan to go this year.

I almost sat it out, but was so glad I went. We had so much fun! I totally disagree with jim, David is a wonderful entertainer and his presentation about his dad was very heartwarming.

Have seen him 3 times in LV, hubby got to go on stage. Definitely worth it.

I just love that going up on the stage thing he does. He were in hysterics when the athletic director from our local high school was called up.

Yes! We saw him when he came to town and to be honest, not knowing much about him, I wasn't all that excited. Oh my gosh were we impressed--if I had the opportunity to see him again I would be very excited! The show he puts on is just amazing.

David Coperfield reminds me of Blackstone who I used to see at the Palomar theater in Seattle in the 1940s and 1950s. If you like magic and your pocketbook, please check out my suggestions: Mac King and Rick Thomas.

Interesting. Penn & Teller are so much more entertaining than Copperfield. I've seen each several times.
I was at a recent Copperfield show and wished that <u>I could disappear</u>! He has peaked. But, to each their own. Something for everyone in this world.

Very cheap entertainment, Bellman. Our seats for Copperfield were around forty per person and very much worth it, our seats were excellent! ***kim*** :)

Yes, we've gone twice in the past 8 yrs. Even my husband was amazed! I, of course, enjoyed seeing and later talking with my former student...David!

Well David never tried disappearing from my class!!! But our staff always laughed over a former chemistry teacher who when he got annoyed over David practicing magic tricks in his class told David &quot;Put that away because that's not gonna get you anywhere in the future!&quot;

Sorry Bellman and *kim* I don't equate admission price with excellence. Mac King's show is hilarious, and if you have seen it and found otherwise, please say so. The Rick Thomas show is more in the David Copperfield mode and when it lets out there is an amusing show in progress on the floor of the Tropicano casino. I have loved magic shows all my life, and I prefer these productions to David Coperfield. It's a matter of preference. Please don't deprive me of my enjoyment and don't discourage Mopnmom from evaluating posts on their own.

However I did get to make him laugh the first time I talked to him in Vegas after his show. I was in a long line of people who had purchased his photos (proceeds went to an organization he founded to teach patients &quot;magic&quot; tricks as their physical therapy.)

Anyhow as I went to pick up my signed photo I said 'Well, David, it's been a long time since I saw you at Metuchen High.&quot; At this point he looked up and shouted &quot; She was my teacher.&quot; Then he said &quot;Wow, I know I've gotten older looking but how come you still look so young.&quot; (Does he know how to flatter someone or not?)

I think the point is that OP asked if David Copperfield is worth seeing. Sure, it's great to offer other suggestions, but at some point an opinion sounds more like a sales pitch when repeated multiple times, IMO.

I never had any interest in seeing Copperfield, but my parents had free tickets and offered to take me (traveling show, not Vegas). I went because I felt obligated. I loved it. Not something I'd do every day, but I was entertained and went away pleasantly surprised.

Is snowrooster correct that David Copperfield is the only show you would consider going to in Las Vegas?

jimjim - I am correct in that the question asked was about Copperfield, I never said it was the only show being considered. I also didn't fault you for suggesting an alternative. What I found odd was that the alternative suggestion was repeated multiple times and started to sound more like a sales pitch than a suggestion. IMHO.
