Dauphin Island, Al -- post BP Spill

Hi, we are planning a week on Dauphin Island in July 2011, and are wondering if anyone can tell us what we might expect in terms of water/beach conditions and local seafood (i.e., is it safe to eat)? I've heard/seen mixed reports on both, so any insight would be greatly appreciated. This will be our first time on the Gulf Coast, and we are traveling with children ages 11 and 7 as well. Thanks!

Come on Down! Everything here on the Island is actually just fine. We never really did get slimed by the Oil thanks to the water flow out of Mobile Bay that flows to the West. There were some tar balls, but all is quickly picked up and removed. The Beach is as clean as ever, the fishing is great, and the people are as always the friendliest around!
