Dan McKlusky's steakhouse in Austin, Texas

Hi,

Has anyone been to Dan McKlusky's restaurant in downtown Austin, Texas?

If so, what kind of place was it? Was the food and service any good? Would appreciate any comments. Thanks.

Dan's is good, but so are Ruth's Chris, Sullivan's, and Ray's.

Big Al, thanks for responding. I'll look into the other restaurants.
IMHO, Dan's is good (good service, upscale, good steaks) but not the best. Ruth Chris and Sullivans are better. You can check local reviews by going to http://austin.citysearch.com or austin360.com and follow links to restaurants. Or, as always, find info on google.com

Are you needing to find a steakhouse for a certain event, or are you just wanting to know the best place in Austin for a steak?
Penny,

I am not a steak conisseur (sp?) but I like Dan McKlusky's the best out of all the steak house in Austin. I think they have the best value and they have the best salads. The service is always good and the wine selection is good.

I recently went to Ruths Chris and was disappointed especially considering the $$$ - I was also offended by their wine markup it was around 300% which is ridiculous.

You may also check out Austin Land and Cattle it is my 2nd choice for a steak house in Austin, though I have never been to Rays. Sullivans is good, but not great IMHO.

hope this helps!

Thanks, Lisa & Nicole for responding.

Dan McKlusky's was recommended by a business associate of my husband's so I was just trying to get feedback from other people who have eaten there.

I think my husband and I will check it out while we're in Austin. Thanks again so much for both of your opinions.
Penny - as you can see, Austin has it's share of steak houses, and opinions vary greatly. You will enjoy Dan's, no way to avoid that! Have fun and enjoy Austin.
