Hello again! My husband and I are looking for a good lunch place near the Northpark area. It can be nearby too, we're not restricted to just Northpark. Any suggestions?

You didn't mention what type of food, but Blue Mesa has good New Mexican type of food. Great chips & salsa, to(they have regular and also sweet potato chips in the basket.)It's across Northwest Highway from Northpark Mall.

I actually just did a little research (I wasn't sure what type of food-we like to try everything) and found South Dallas Cafe and Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse. Any opinions on these? Is the original Sonny Bryan's the best location?

Those are both near Northpark?

Both of those are miles south of NorthPark, and IMHO not worth the drive.But what do I know!!

In Northpark itself, there is PF Chang's (Chinese), McCormick & Schmick's (seafood), Kona Grill (?), and Luna de Noche (Mexican).

Right across the street from Northpark are Blue Mesa (already mentioned) and Cheesecake Factory. If you go a little bit west of Northpark over to Preston, there are a ton of places in Preston Center - Houston's, California Pizza Kitchen, Sevy's, Tin Star, Sprinkles Cupcakes, Snuffer's, and more.

Maggianos is also at NorthPark...

My favorite all time lunch spot at Norhtpark is the Mermaid Bar in Nieman Marcus...it is the best. Try the Duke of Wellington sandwich. Dessert is a must...

I think it's about 10 minutes away but I had a really nice lunch with clients a few months back at Trulucks at 2401 McKinney.

Go up to Forest Lane, on the west side of 75, nd eat at Luna De Noche. GREAT local Tex-Mex food! They have 3 or 4 locations in the area.

Tin Star is good, too. I can't recommend Snuffer's; it's just greasy bar food...

Zodiac in Neiman Marcus and the Bistro at Nordstrom are both wonderful IMO I love to have lunch there and a glass of champagne while taking a break from shopping. I do not recommend Sonny Bryans at all (I am a BBQ snob and do not think it is worth its reputation). If you want BBQ Sammy's is good as well as Peggy Sue BBQ. Blue Mesa is also a good choice if you want Mexican vs. Tex Mex

Well, I am a Sonny Bryan's fan. LOVE their brisket and their sides. Awesome.

And El Fenix on Hillcrest and NW Highway is great Tex Mex. You must try their cheese enchiladas. And their sour cream chicken enchiladas. I have dreams about them...

But still vote for the Mermaid Bar at Neimans. It is a classic Dallas spot.

Heavens, Sonny Bryans's and El Fenix are two places I want to try in Dallas, places that have been around a good long time. By any chance have you eaten at Babe's Chicken Dinner House? That's another place I have on my list.

My vote is for Luna de Noche in Northpark. They have a nice patio if the weather allows. I also agree on the Neiman's/Nordstrom's suggestions. I have never heard of South Dallas Cafe. Let us know where you end up. :)

No, but it sounds like my kind of place. I have always loved the Dixie House and the Black Eyed Pea restaurants for their southern cooking and awesome sides. But haven't even heard of Babe's. Must try on my next visit.

On a Food Network Show where Bon Apetite rated some various restaurants across the US, they gave the BBQ place Jaspers very high ratings. Now, that is not anywhere near Northpark, mind you, but just thought I would mention it here. Had a chance to try it last year on a visit but thought it was rather pricey for a BBQ place. Still if I had a chance, would check it out.

Dallas has got good eats, that is for sure.

Is there a Babe's anywhere but Roanoke? (Garland maybe?) We go by the one in Roanoke and by 5 pm on a Saturday, there is already an hour+ wait.

curiousgeo - FYI, I went to Babes (Carrollton location) for the 1st time approx 2 months ago. The sides were REALLY good as was the desert (definitely not heart healthy). I had pot roast and it was just okay. However, my husband liked his chicken. The place was packed, so be prepared to wait.

jcb and missypie, thanks for the information on Babe's. Besides the chicken, I heard that they serve an excellent chicken fried steak. The food must be good if there is an hour plus lineup at 5:00 pm!
