Dallas Hotel For Sporting Events?
 

I am planning on going to both Texas Stadium and American Airlines Center to see both the Cowboys and Mavericks over a weekend in November. Can someone recommend a hotel that might work to get to both venues without having a car? Thanks for your input!

I would stay somewhere close to the AA Center because you could walk to many other attractions.
You don't mention your budget but the Amerisuites West End is a decent hotel.
I think you will need to take a cab to Texas Stadium... but there may be a bus which would be 1000x better.
Check with the hotel to see if there is a shuttle or bus... they market to people attending these events so they should know.

The Wyndham Anatole.....fab in every way especially the Verandah Club,the fitness facility.Closer I think to AAC.however, I have never not had a car in Dallas....OMG those Texas drivers....road rage is the state sport and yes a tad more tame than my native LA wackos...Gotta try it once I must say....But do drive up northa few miles to Plano and beyond, where if you are in less than an RX300, you'll be towed outa the parkin lot.LOL !!

In response to your inquiry about hotels in Dallas, I came across 'extended stay' hotels when I was on tour in Texas doing merch for the Shelley King Band http://shelleyking.com/ (check us out!). When we got to Dallas, we found a hotel http://www.homesteadhotels.com that had an eat-in kitchen, plus a stocked cupboard down the hall (eggs, spaghetti, chili, toothpaste etc.) that works on the honor system. Grab a carton of milk for your coffee, leave a buck. A total godsend for when you're on the road without a lot of downtime in between gigs--or in your case between Football games.

Unfortunately, the AAC and TX Stadium are about 10 miles apart. The area surrounding the AAC is MUCH nicer than the area around TX Stadium, so I'd recommend staying down there instead. Any of the hotels along Stemmons/I-35(Wyndham Anatole, Renaissance, etc.) are nice and they have restaurants in-house.

Honestly, for the price of the cab fare to both venues, you could rent a small car. The cab fare to Texas Stadium would be quite high, and getting a cab to pick you up after the game would be quite difficult, too. I'd go ahead and rent the car!

Thanks for your responses! Are there any shuttle buses etc. that run to Texas Stadium on game days from the vicinity of American Airlines Arena? Or public transportation that would take me closer to Texas stadium where I could get a cab? Approximately how much would a cab ride from AAC to Texas Stadium run?

DART just discontinued its Texas Stadium Flyer service this year due to budget cuts. You might try www.dart.org and see if you can find a city bus route that will get you close. I would estimate a cab one way from downtown to TX Stadium in the pre-game traffic around $50, and likely closer to $75. As I mentioned before, getting a cab to come pick you up after the game will be difficult.

Because of the traffic around Texas Stadium, a cab could be quite expensive... much waiting!
Like I said, you should call one of the hotels and ask a concierge or front desk. The Anatole is great but if you are on foot, a located to the South of the AA center would be better than one to the North. There is quite a bit to do on foot in the West End area (Suth of AA) There's nothing around the Anatole.
