Dallas/Ft. Worth BBQ

We'll be staying in Grapevine March 15 for a conference, and may have one dinner free. Any suggestions? We'd rather have good BBQ than Mexican. We'll have a car.

It looks like Grapevine is midway between the two towns, would either one be a better choice? I've done some scanning, and may prefer Ft. Worth because we may have time to walk around the Stockyards District. What is Sundance Square like?

I live in Grapevine, and we actually have some good BBQ places here. No need to drive 20 miles to FW or Dallas! Our favorite is Spring Creek, which is on 114 at Main Street. A close second place is The Feed Store BBQ in Southlake on White Chapel, south of Southlake Blvd. The others in town are:
Coulter's (next to Bass Pro World)
Bartley's (on NW Highway at Dooley)
Desperado's (NW Highway at Scribner)

Sundance Square is FUN! It is especially good at night. Very walkable, and lots of great bars and restaurants to try! If you like a good sing-along piano bar, Pete's Dueling Pianos is GREAT!!

While in Fort Worth, try Railhead BBQ

Grapevine used to have a Railhead, but it closed a couple of weeks ago. If anyone recommends Sonny Bryan's in Grapevine, it is also closed.

Are you staying at the Gaylord? The closest BBQ to that is Coulters, near Bass Pro. I like it - they have good sides (try the ribs and onion rings.) Spring Creek is fine. The pass around fresh hot rolls. If you want "non-chain", try Bartleys, which is in a strip center on northwest highway.

Yes missypie, we are staying at the Gaylord.

Thanks everyone, I'll check these out!

My vote is for Sammy's in Dallas. It is a lunch only spot. My favorite Texas-style BBQ, bar none.
