Dallas art Galleries/Hotel
Has dallas developed a particular part of town for art galleries? And if so what would be a good hotel in that part of town. Not low budget but not 5 star either.
Thanks! |
Many galleries in Uptown (more traditional) - hotels: Crescent Court, ZaZa, Stoneleigh.
A few more in Deep Ellum (more indie) - stay in downtown hotels like Magnolia, Indigo. |
Ditto what pepper said.

If you can get a decent deal at ZaZa, stay there.

You can also consider staying at the Fairmont. It's right across the street from Dallas Museum of Art and Nasher Sculpture Center.
You can take the free McKinney Trolley which runs from the DMA to Uptown (where the art galleries are). I believe it runs 3x/hr until at least 10pm or so. |
One area to look at surrounds the Madi Museum (www.MadiMuseumDallas.org, NOT madimuseum!!). Madi is an artistic movement which concentrates on geometric figures. My wife's foundation, the Kolodzei Art Foundation, curated a show last year there, with many pieces from our collection, including artists such as El Lissitzky, Iakov Chernikhov, Alexandra Exter, Liubov Popova, Andrei Proletsky, Leonid Borisov, Alexander Rodchenko, Varvara Stepanova, Kazimir Malevich, Valentina Lebedeva-Lesin, Ilya Chashnik, Nikolai Suetin, Leonid Borisov, Leonid Lamm, Vyacheslav Koleichuk, San San (Alexander Karasev), Mikhail Molochnikov, Gennadii Zubkov, and Eduard Shteinberg.
You can see more on that exhibition at http://www.kolodzeiart.org/calendar.html |
