Dahlonega, Georgia in October
My husband and I are traveling to Dahlonega in October. We have already reserved our place to stay in Dahlonega. Does anyone have any suggestions for restaurants, wineries, or things to do in the Dahlonega/Helen area? We like wine, beer, good food, live music, hiking, antique shopping, etc. Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

There are several wineries with wine tasting in and around Dehlonega. There is also interesting gold mining history in the area. It's been a couple of years since my last visit and I don't recall specific restaurants. Frogtown Cellars, Cavendar Creek, Three Sisters and Habersham are all in the area. Check the hours online, Frogtwon was closed mid-week when I visited.

Presume you'll have a car.
Wolf Mountain Vineyards. Quite a bit fancier than the others, but offers food which is pretty good as well as wine and cheese. Bourbon Street Grille is good and right on the Square, The traditional place to eat in Dahlonega, however, is The Smith House, which has traditional Southern cooking served at family style tables. If you've never been there, you should go. Cleveland (Georgia) is not too far away and has (or had) a pretty big and interesting antique store. Those in Dahlonega are a little bit pricey. Vogel State Park, Brasstown Bald (highest mountain in Georgia) and start of Appalachian trail are in the area for your hiking enjoyment. |
Yes, we will have a car! Thank you so much dwdvagamundo!
