D.C. to Baltimore

Hello all,
We will be arriving at Dulles on a Saturday morning and need to get to Baltimore. We didn't realize the MARC trains only run on the weekdays. Can you tell me the best way to get to Baltimore? We looked at the Metro and Supershuttle but it doesn't appear that they go to Baltimore. Please help!

Amtrak from Union Station.

Amtrak, or rent a car.

Dulles has neither the Marc train nor Amtrak. People are mistakenly thinking of Reagan Airport.

Either take the Shuttle from Dulles to BWI airport, and then cab to Baltimore

or rent a car at Dulles and drop it at either BWI or if the rental company has a drop in the city itself.

I've used Dollar Rent a Car and found them the best -- search on expedia and travelocity and kayak and hotwire.
Saturday is in your favor because weekend rates tend to be cheaper.

We inferred that the OP was figuring on taking a MARC train from Union Station to Baltimore. We know the difference between Dulles and National, and that the OP will have to get into the city from Dulles in order to take Amtrak from Union Station. That's why it makes sense to rent a car.

Thank you for your replies! We'll probably rent a car for the day but we'll check out Amtrak as well. Thanks again!

Most convenient would be to rent a car. And not that expensive considering that we paid a private shuttle to take a very luggage-laden daughter from D.C.'s airport to her apartment in Baltimore, for about $100.

Just getting from Dulles to Union Station costs a small fortune by taxi. Rent a car :)

if you're not in a hurry, you can get from Dulles to Union Station by taking the 5A Metro bus to Rosslyn, then take the orange Metro line to Metro Center station and the red line to Union Station; should take about a half hour for the bus and a half-hour for the subways. Total fare about $4.50 per person.

Anonymous, I'm always in more of a hurry than that - LOL!
