Congratulations - you should be pleased with the Renaissance on M Street and you can use Metro to get back and forth to Gallaudet.

I had looked at Gallaudet and couldn't find a hotel/motel associated with them and just saw Howard Johnson and some of the skanky places on New York Ave NE and Florida Ave NE.

Glad you got out of that neighborhood and see Priceline came through for you! I've used it in Europe very successfully but this past month I didn't have the same good luck with Seattle and Vancouver. Guess it's the luck of who is sold out and who's not.

Remember that Metro is 5 blocks from the school - so be cautious after dark.

I am pleased. This was my first time using priceline. I'll recommmend it in the future.

While not downtown, we stayed at the Embassy Suites at the Chevy Chase Pavilion. Nice neighborhhod and the metro was right in the same building; you didn't even have to go outside (the hotel is attached to a small mall).

I'm glad you got better accommodations! The neighborhood around Gallaudet is indeed sketch. I wouldn't want to walk around at night (and I live in a neighorhood many people would not walk around at night!).
