D.C. Restaurant Suggestions
Background. Our son's MIL recently made a bold decision: she sold her home and moved in with her ex-husband (amicable divorce) while they prepped his camper van for her "Americana" Tour. Don't know what her plans are after the tour, but good for her!
Her tour is bringing her to the D.C. area next week (we get along quite well, so this will be fun). She has never been to D.C. I have one day to show her NGA and American History (her request). Lucky for me I have well-wrinkled maps of these museums with "highlights" marked. My question is: where to eat lunch on a weekday in between these museums, as there are limitations? Nothing spicy. Nothing fancy. No sushi. No pizza as we're firing up the Ooni one of the nights she is visiting. No burgers. No Zaytinya. I'm not a fan. No NGA Cafeteria. Not a fan of that one, either. Vegetarian or Vegan is fine; we're both omnivores. When I'm in D.C. with art group at those museums, our go-tos are typically Oyamel or Ella's, but I'd like to try something new. Thank you. |

China Chilcano Ooooh. That Dim Sum Tuesday menu at China Chilcano looks fun! Thank you! |
NGA has a good cafeteria but no tours.
Assuming you mean NGA, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. |

Assuming you mean NGA, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. FWIW, China Chilcano's Dim Sum Tuesday experience was...pretty good. I loved the Szechuan Chili Wontons because of course I would. Other favorites: Sui Mai Dorado and the Kam Lu Wonton. I ordered the Tam Tam Noodles, which rivaled a favorite Japanese Ramen place near our housee; even Friend declared that they were "surprisngly good." What we weren't found of was the "rush" to move us along. It's not quite Spring Break here in D.C. and the restaurant wasn't full at 1:30 on a Tuesday afternoon, but overall I'm adding it to our Art Group Lunch List. |
