Czech translation
 

Can someone help me translate a statement from English into Czech? I have a serious food allergy and wherever I go, I like to translate that statement into the local language just to be safe. I'm having trouble finding a translation on the web. Can someone tell me how to say:

I have a serious allergy to all seafood or Is there any seafood in this item, I have a serious allergy to all seafood?

It might be helpful to list examples of what you mean by seafood as well. Some places I've been, one might specify "I don't eat meat" but the locals strangely don't consider pork to be "meat." I realize you don't want the list to get tediously long. . . fish? shellfish? lakefish?

Good point about the specific fish description, Ellenem. It's funny - I am a vegetarian and I can't tell you how many times I have heard something like, "we know you're a vegetarian so we made fish for dinner." Huh?!?

I have known vegetarians that do eat fish, and even seafood. I have also known vegetarians that won't eat eggs or cheese. So it gets very confusing.

And Jenn, I know people that say they are allergic to seafood but they are referring to shrimp, crab, lobster etc., but they can eat fish.

So listing in some way what you cannot eat would be good. I have food allergies too, I know what a hassle it can be at times. Best wishes and a safe and healthy trip to you!

Loveitaly - Vegetarians do not eat fish. If they do, they are not true vegetarians. Better to call them 'fish-eating veggie lovers' instead. Also, someone who does not eat any animal products - meat, dairy or eggs - is called a Vegan. Just wanted to clear that up...
