cute, quick-drying tank top?
I've got a trip planned to Europe for this summer, and I'm starting to get together all of the clothes I want to pack. Does anyone have any good recommendations for a quick-drying tank top or cami with a shelf bra? I have a couple of similar tank tops in cotton, but would like to bring one that would be easy to wash and dry overnight. Any suggestions?
Thanks! |
Have you looked at LL Bean or Land's End catalogues? They always have those type of travel clothes. Actually, I find these at Target pretty cheap most of the time in the workout clothing department.

Look for Cool-Max tank tops. I've bought mine from LL Bean.
I can't imagine a cami with shelf bra drying out quickly. I wore mine last May during a trip to the French Riveria - but didn't wash it while I was there. |
Norm Thompson and TravelSmith have some camis which might work for you.
|
Definitely Patagonia...there sizes tend to run big, in case you order anything on-line.

Target! I also bought two thin jersey type dresses there that I could wear during the day with casual sandals or dress up at night with higher heels and more jewelry. They dried overnight easily.

Anyone of the athletic tops by Nike. Many of them don't even look like athletic wear.
|
TravelSmith mail order catelog or online has exactly what you describe
|
I was in a Sports Authority store yesterday and saw many quick drying tanks by North Face, Columbia, and other "outdoors" companies, as well as the ones by Nike, Adidas, etc. You might also try REI.
|
I second the visit to Sports Authority or REI. There is such a large selection of tank tops for hiking or running. I bought a few for my Costa Rica trip last year at Sports Authority. I bought a few Columbia tops that dried very easily and also looked good.
|
I was going to recommend Lands End or LLbean. And they both have good consistant sizing.
|
I have had good luck with REI as well.
|
Have bought many quick drying items at REI and very pleased with quality - also pleased with TravelSmith and Magellan - don't know where you are located, but in Boston we have Hilton Tent City which has camping gear, but many items similar in clothing to an REI or EMS and for far less money; so don't discount looking into a "camping" store near you - tanks are usually still in solid colors and would work fine. Also, sometimes I find cami type w/ shelf bras in a store that sells dance/workout gear clothing.
|
If you have a Chico's near you, no matter your age or style, they do have travel clothes that don't wrinkle and wash and dry very well esp ifyou are looking for say a one black or solid color tank for evenings in a dressier look material - you can literally roll them in a ball and they don't wrinkle.
|
I'm also going to strongly suggest Targets. I had spent about $30 for tank tops at various online stores but yesterday found different colored camies with shelf bras there for $8.99. What a deal! However, since they're partly spandex, I doubt whether they will dry overnight.

Check out the Gap's camis that are currently in the store. They seem much thinner and lighter than usual.
|
Just remember to take along an overshirt, wrap or jacket, as it is sometimes not appropriate to go sleeveless. Also, some cathedrals do not allow sleeveless women.
Some require a passport in exchange for a wrap to use during a tour. |
www.athleta.com - This place has THE BEST items for what you're describing! I wear their stuff all summer long...love it!

Target - check the athletic/active wear section. I bought a few neutral tanks & they were lightweight & perfect for my trip. The material for work out wear is absorbent, but also resists wrinkles, because of the fabric blend. You can hand wash, or let the machine do it for you..
Also, because they had a slight sheen to the fabric, I could wear the tanks even as dressy wear! |
Anything that's Nike DriFit, the Adidas equivalent, or the New Balance equivalent is a great option. I use the tanks and the short-sleeved tops to workout in, and they dry quickly, and don't necessarily look like you're heading for the gym. I got mine at Dick's Sporting Goods and at Marshall's and TJ Maxx on clearance.
