Suzie...what do you mean about TA?
TripAdvisor?

I DO use that but have a different name there. Got it yrs ago.

Anyway, I'll have to see if I can find time to review on TA (actual reviews), but definitely have offered any help for those interested in the Pac NW most esp,
as we're the most current there & go every year. (have done that here on the boards) Love the San Juans & pretty much all of Washington, the Oregon Coast, & B.C.!

Since your family members are driving up from Southern California you might want to consider meeting and staying at the Wawona Hotel the first night Then drive into the valley next day for your two nights at the Yosemite Falls motel.

We drive up from San Diego and stay the first night at the Wawona every year in the month of May and then drive into the valley the next morning for our longer term stay.

I would make your reservations as soon as possible.

I believe the motel at Yosemite Falls is far superior to anything they have at Curry Village, and much quieter.

The most amazing way to stay in Yosemite is to camp. Why would anyone want to miss staring at all those awesome stars at night, or getting up before dawn to watch the sun rise over those magnificent rocks while dears graze in the meadow. This is primarily a nature/outdoor experience. If you get a soft bed and flushing toilets that should be more than enough. Yosemite is beautiful at Dawn. Curry village cabins are fine and well located too.

myst - those are exactly the reasons we stay in Housekeeping camp rather than nicer accomodations - so that we can experience the mornings and evenings best IMO, those are the best times of day in the woods. It's just not as much fun from a hotel room.
