Current status of Tappan Zee Bridge - summer 2014?
 

Driving end of July DC to MA and know Tappan Zee Bridge is undergoing all sorts of work - apparently to keep it from falling into the Hudson River. Although I have made this trip perhaps 25+ times in past 10 years, not recently. Anything special I should know - will likely be on Bridge late morning on a Monday - timing DC departure to leave prior to DC rush hour ( about 6:30 AM) but hitting NJ/NYC area after their rush hour and then into MA late afternoon.

I drove it about a week ago, late-morning on a Monday. No problems. I think with your timing, you'll be fine.

The construction is not affecting the traffic flow on the bridge. You should have no problems. Of course, there's always the chance that there'll be an accident slowing down things, but, of course, that could happen any time!

I drove it the weekend before last - Thursday early evening into the city and then Sunday morning out and had no problems.

It appears that they are building a second, parallel bridge. There will no doubt be delays when they connect it all together, but that could be years.

Thanks - this bridge has always scared me in a strange way that I can not identify - but at least I have info that I should expect no unusual delays.
