I will be in Hawaii in Feb/99 would like to know if there are any savings on currency exchange buy buying U.S. in Hawaii. It currently costs 1.56 Canadian to purchase U.S. or any info. on better exchange rates. Very Much Appreciated. Thanks.

I'm sure there is no discrepancy in currency exchange rates throughout all 50 states and there would be no advantage to waiting to buy in Hawaii over any other state.

You'll receive the best rates if you make all of your purchases with a credit card and obtain cash using your ATM or ATM/debit card. That's what we always do when visiting Canada. If you have any cash leftover, use it toward your hotel bill so you won't have to change it back.

I will have to agree with using the ATM/debit card. You will get a much better rate. We travel to Europe frequently and always go this route. You may want to change over a small amount before you go so you have a little money right when you arrive in case of an emergency. Otherwise, most airports have ATMs.

I agree 100% with other replys the ATM is definetly the way to go .Last year we went to Florida and didn't exchange our cash before we left.We just ran out of time .Big mistake !!!!We ended up paying 60% plus a $10.00S/C charge at a bank. The next day we paid 1.54 at an ATM.I'm convinced we Canadians just have to pay the price .There is no such thing as getting a better deal on the U.S.$Have a great trip!
Janet
