Cruising with Teens

We are planning a cruise for the first time. It is to celebrate 2 high school grads (us and another family) Both will be 18 at the time and there will also be a 15 yr old. We narrowed it down to a mediterranean cruise end of June 09, however, I am not sure whether we should go with X (Summitt or Solstice)HAL (Noordam) or Norwegian (Vogager of the Seas). Norwegian sounds great for the teens, however, we want to make sure that we get the quality, service, etc. that the other 2 seem to offer. Any thoughts?

Though I don't know anything about cruises so have never had reason to go there, I'm guessing you'd get more help with this if you reposted it on the cruises forum here.

voyager of the seas is a royal carribbean ship. cruise critic is a great place to get all the info you need. in my research, royal carribean seems to be the best for teens, but as of 18, I think you are "stuck in the middle". but, post your question there. good luck

We have have cruised with an 18 year old - it is a difficult age unless they are very outgoing. Most teen programs end at age 17 and they check ages often enough to make it an issue. That makes sense - since many parents do not want their young teens hanging around with older teens/young adults.

And at 18 they are too young, both in age and interests for many adult activities.

That said, our dtr at age 17 and 18 cruised and had a great time - she could find something interesting to do and people to meet on the Moon - just the type kids she is. Our son cruising at that age was less happy, since he is much less outgoing. So some of it depends on the kids.

Definitely go on to cruisecritic.com

Check out their message boards. They are a great source of help and information.

I have 2 teens. Last year we did a Carnival cruise and this year we are doing a Royal Caribbean cruise. Our kids have a great time cruising.
