Cruise with 10 month old infant
 

I am considering a 7-day Alaskan cruise with my family, which includes a 10 month old infant. Has anyone ever taken a 4- or 7-day cruise with a baby? Would you recommend it or will it be too difficult given the small size of the lodging and limited child-friendly activities? <BR>

Hi John<BR>Do you have parents who could take care of your little one? If this is possible that is what I would recommend. Give yourself and your wife a break from having the responibilities of being mom and dad and just enjoy each other and the freedom to adventure.(We have been on two cruises and have not seen a baby on either one.) If you have a safe place for your baby, IMHO it would be best for all concerned including the other passengers if the little one cries at night.

i personnally wouldn't take a baby. the alaskan cruises are geared towards sightseeing which your 10-month old won't know. too cool for pools, a lot of the excursions are active orientated. if you do decide to take the infant, be kind to the other travellers and leave the dinning area if he/she starts to cry. some of these people are on a cruise like that to get away from children.

never seen a baby on a cruise.....if you do get a good backpack carrier..and try to enjoy..some kids travel well...how about baby food and formula?

It seems like a cruise is not a very good place for an infant that small. How would you ever enjoy your time?<BR><BR>With so many spaces that were once "child free" now being taken over by children, it would seem a cruise -- unless it is a family-friendly cruise like Disney or Carnival -- should be the last haven from listening to crying children.

I don't think a cruise is right trip with an infant. But, you should probably post this on the cruise forum instead of United States. That way you will get the opinions of some cruisers.

Year before last I was on RCCL and there was a couple with an infant. Young, like 6 weeks. Know what the mother did? Sat all day and rocked the stroller back and forth while everyone else had a blast. <BR><BR> If you were even thinking of a warm weather cruise I think it would be doable, pool,beach, etc but the activities on the Alaskan trip would be awfully difficult with a baby.

take the cruise and the kid. ive done it they have babysitting services. take advantage of the cruise and the babysitting its like 10 dollars an hour. this way you burden no one with your kids and call it a real family vacation

Well that is definitely the craziest thing I've ever heard - going on a family vacation and dumping a baby off with a strange babysitter! I'm wondering what self-respecting mom or dad could actually do this and enjoy the time away from their baby.
