Cruise from NYC w/2 year old

Has anyone taken a cruise from NYC to either Bermuda or Canada on any of the cruise lines? Can you give me any information about the boat and if it's appropriate to take a toddler? I'm worried that there won't be anything for him to do. Also, is the boat steady? Motion sickness is a consideration. Thanks.

You should post this on the cruise board. Also contact the various cruise lines you are considering to ask if they permit chilren; some cruises are adults-only. Even if children are allowed, other passengers may not exactly welcome a 2-year old, the people on the cruise board can give you opinions on this.

If you must cruise out of NYC, I would find out which cruise lines cater to toddlers and pick from there. It would probably save you a lot of headaches rather than choose by destination.

My sister-in-law treats her children and granchildren to a Disney cruise every year. She's a widow who enjoys cruises and the company of her family so this option works out for everyone because this particular cruise caters to children and adults. The children range in age from 2 to 14 and none of them became ill from seasickness, and all of them were extremely happy with everything.

Have a Travel Agent tell you which cruiselines allow 2-year olds in the kids programs (some have to be age 3).
I wouldn't go unless he can go into the children's program, unless you want to babysit the whole time. Most of the ships have very little motion, unless the weather is bad.

The only traditional cruise lines that accept 2 year old children into their programs are Norweigan Cruise Line and Carnival. Disney has an area known an Flounder's Reef that accepts kids are young as 3 months (I believe). It (Disney's program for the under 3 crowd) costs extra money and space is not always available. In addition, you can not make reservations until you actually board the ship. Royal Caribbean and Princess accept children age 3 years and older into their programs. Disney, of course, does not sail to either Bermuda or Canada. I would suggest Carnival Victory, which has various sailings from NYC to Canada. I believe they are 5 day cruises.
