Crossing The Atlantic On A 757?

Article from NYTimes 7/29/07:

(I'm quite sure I wouldn't like it! )

From the east coast why not? We fly to Hawaii from the west coast on them and the flight duration is similar. I wouldn't want to fly from the west coast to London on a 757 though.

Barbara, I can't stand being on a 757 for more than 2 to 3 hours. I always fly the big ones for longer flights than that! Good for you that you don't mind. I like more space to get up and move around, the slightly bigger seats, and TWO aisles on the bigger ones.

It's a lot better than having to connect through airports like LHR or CDG.

Anyways, most of the points in the article is valid; but I don't see what's the connection between cramped coach seats and the ratio between business and coach seats.

On Continental and most other airlines, they don't do complimentary upgrades on long haul international flights. One can upgrade using miles (+ cash in some cases), and one can bumped up if they overbook coach while have business class seats open. These things are determined mostly by airline booking and pricing policies; and by chance. Little to do with plane type.

The chance of upgrading on a Continental 767/777 across the Atlantic is basically just as poor as on a 757.
