Crossing into Mexico for day trip: What papers are necessary?

My daughter hopes to go into Mexico for the day while she is in the US.
What are the visa requirements for this?
She has a british passport.

You need to go to the Mexican Embassy and ask them what the requirements are for British passport holders.

I would not recommend a day in whatever border town she's thinking of visiting, especially if it's Tijuana.

If she is crossing from Texas, ditto to the above. There has been a HUGE increase in crime in border towns in the last couple of years. I am usually pretty fearless when I travel, but even I would not go to a border town at this time.

That is definitely off the list of "Places to visit" then!
Thank you.
