Crested Butte Dining
Looking for a nice restaurant for the family for Christmas Eve/Christmas dinner. Doesn't need to be especially fancy as the kids (12 and 15) won't go for that type of food. Mom and Dad would like something a bit special, moderate price. Suggestions, please? Thanks!

Martchteli's Gourmet Noodle - Homey Italian,
Bacchanale - also Italian, One of these two would be my top choices given your parameters. Slogar's- Fried chicken? Le Bosquet's is french, i don't think your kids would like it, the atmosphere is kind of dead in my opinion, though my parents like it. Timberline is very nice, but probably more expensive than what you are looking for. Lil's land and Sea I haven't been too in a while, but it has sushi if that's what you want. Harry's Grill was the best restaurant in town i heard it closed. The Idle Spur if it is open could be a good place to go, it has a rustic atmosphere, but it wasn't open this summer. The Secret Stash is a great pizza place that your kids will love but it is not the "special" you are looking for for Christmas Eve. Have you look at the Crested Butte Dining Guide? That should be helpful, and I would make a reservation now. http://crestedbuttenews.com/special_section/6/ |
It's been a while but we really liked Slogar's. Its family style and the some of the best fried chicken ever.

Thanks for your replies! Unfortunately, we were grounded and can't get into Crested Butte until late Christmas night. We will definitely take your recommendations for other meals out!

Probably not a good bet for kids 12 and 15 but in case others see this thread I'd highly recommend Soupcon, which is a small French restaurant in an old mining shed a block or so off the main drag. The owner/chef often spends fall or late spring (off-season in CB) cooking in restaurants in France and the food is exceptional (but expensive). This is the best restaurant we've eaten at in Colorado.
Second choice would be the Buffalo Grille if you're a carnivore looking for a tender well-cooked slice of buffalo meat. Bill |
