Craowds at the Grand Canyon

We are going next week. I am curious what kind of crowds I should expect. Input would be appreciated.

I would not expect there to be much in the way of crowds. Expect other people to be there but no jam ups. When we've been there in past Aprils, there were occasionally people on the rim trail but not enough to get in the way.

I hope you have reservations. The in-park accomodations can fill up quickly. If they are full, there are standard motels in Tusayan.

Yep - we have hotel reservations.

Not many people there in mid March when we were there.

Have a great time. It's the best time to be at the canyon, IMO. I can't even imagine doing any hiking there in the summer.

If you don't have reservations yet, take the phone number for Xanterra and call them. They get cancellations all the time and they don't always get to the web page.

We were there a couple of years ago the week before Easter. All the hotels were full but there were never long lines for the shuttle. Everyone went to the restaurants right after the sunset--I remember on the nights when we didn't have reservations, there was a bit of a wait. If you hike down the trails, even a short distance, the crowds really thin out.
