Crafts/jewelry in and around DC
 

Thanks to anyone who can help....
I am looking for a place in DC to buy handmade jewelry. Which flea-market type places are still operational in the winter? I like the Eastern Market a lot, but I am afraid the cold weather scares most artisians away!

I know that you said you are looking for "flea market type" places.

In case anyone is looking for more upscale crafts one of the best shows will be in Baltimore later this month.
Many local galleries and shops buy at this show during the wholesale days.

I think (not sure) that there was jewelry being made in the Torpedo Factory, at the east end of King Street (Old Town) in Alexandria, which is worth a visit anyway.

The BEST place for handcrafted jewelry is Kindred Spirits.
I always go to there when in DC.
There is one at Reagan National Airport and another at Pentagon Row (behind the Fashion Center Mall) Pentagon City exit on the Metro. There's another location somewhere else but I have never been to it so check the yellow pages.
They have beautiful handcrafted jewelry in price ranging from 15.00 - 1500.00
2 weeks ago I took my Dad who is a true artist (metal sculpture) and he spent an hour looking at and admiring the pieces. I always buy a few in expensive things but have 2 $$ items on my "wish list"... a platinum and Austrailian Opal ring by David Freeland and a custom Druzie pendant.

I will second all three suggestions you've received. And add to the list another store in DC which has great handcrafted jewelry, Art & Soul, 225 Pennsylvania Ave SE. Great stuff and a resident golden retreiver to boot.
