Crab Houses off I-95
We will be traveling to Va. next week and would like to stop for some crabs. Can someone recommend a place not too far off I-95. You know the kind with the brown tablecloths and pitches of beer. Thanx

Sorry I can't help Ro. I cannot believe someone hasn't responded to this question. Someone must know where to stop for fresh crabs from the area.

Bottom of the Bay, Laurel, MD. Take Route 198 East until you hit Route 1. Take Rt. 1 north toward the Howard County- PG County line. Bottom of the Bay is on the strip separating the north and southbound lanes of Rt. 1.

This won't answer your where question along I-95, but I can give you an idea of costs. We were in Ocean City last week & I can tell you some places there, but that won't help you. Ate some variation of Blue Crab 5 out of the 6 days we were there. But this is what we payed for steamed crabs: for all the crabs you can eat it was $22.50 per person (from the looks of the crabs - they were the smaller size.) For a dozen (they actually put 13 in the bag) steamed crabs of medium size it was $25. They quoted us a price of $19 for a dozen small size & $39 for a dozen large size.

I already responded to this post two weeks ago. Why are you asking again?! Search and ye shall find it. Anyway, I said it then, Captain Pell's in Fairfax has the atmosphere you seek (beer/paper/etc.), best crabs we've tasted, at the beach or in town, huge, heavy, flavorful, $38 a dozen for large.

Roger: thank you for your directions and response. I looked up the directions and Bottom of the Bay doesnt seem very far off I-95.

KRIX: Excuse me but I didnt see the response then, and I dont see it now. I did do a search. If it bothers you to see the post, then you shouldnt have answered. I'm trying to imagine you with a personality!

I remember Bottom of the Bay for its high quality crabs, cold beer, and great company- my future best man and his wonderful wife.
