Coupon Saver Book for Alaska ?

I have seen reference to a coupon saver book for Alaska and understand it costs about $100. How does one know whether it is worth to purchase, i.e., determine whether the places you are going have coupons. And are the coupons specific - for instance - buy one, get one, or are they just a % off of the price. Are lodging places included in the book? What else might be useful there? Do you have to have book BEFORE you reserve, etc. ?

www.toursaver.com I have never seen any bargains with the lodging coupons and sometimes staying 2 nights in location is 1 too many. I always get better deals with B&B's.

There is also Northern Lights coupon book, so compare both.

Me too. Never found any useful coupons for lodging.
Yes, you need to have a booklet before reserving a room or activities and only limited number of rooms or seats on tours are dedicated to holders of the booklet. You cannot detach coupons from the book. You have to show a whole booklet once you arrive. It is a great way to save some money for a first time visitor to Alaska or those who want to do flight seeing to Mt McKinley over and over again or repeat day cruise to Kenai Fjords NP. Pay attention to the expiration date on each coupon. Some of them expire in August so if you are going in September it may not be such a big bargain. I suggest you first come up with your itinerary then decide if any coupons fit in there. Don't base your itinerary on available coupons. Just my 2 cents

We visited Alaska last summer. I purchased The Great Alaskan Tour Saver book for $100.00 and saved a bundle with it. We found that having two nights was great as we flew in one day had a full day the next to see everything and then flew out the third. We used it in Fairbanks and in Juneau. We used the buy one get one free tickets to go to Gustavus and Glacier Bay. We took a jetboat in Talkeena and so much more. Please go to the website and check the list of places to save. It was never refused and everyone was very nice. I was very pleased with the offers in the book. I had the book before I made reservations and I believe it is necessary. Hope you have a wonderful vacation, ours was fantastic.

Esp if you are going mid to late summer, you can use this site to find folks willing to sell their used coupon book at a greatly reduced rate. Just make sure they didn't use the coupons you wish to use. You can also find used books on Ebay. Note that the coupon book is only good for a calendar year, i.e. can't use a 2007 book in 2008, or a 2008 book for 2009.

I bought the tour saver coupon book for my trip last summer to Alaska and used maybe one coupon in the entire book. It wasn't worth the money for me.

I am wondering about the northern lights coupon books. It's only $57.00 (with shipping. Didn't know if anyone had any experience with it. I sounds a little like an entertainment book. Hope someone has used it.

we purchased both, and saved more than double their cost- northern lights for the boat tour from Seward, and Toursaver for bogo hotel in Valdez and Denali, as well as Talkeetna flight seeing...We will sell both for a great price in early June....

Well worth the investment for us. Spent 150, save 800 AND NEVER LEFT NEW JERSEY!
