Couple of days in San Francisco
 

Hi everyone !
I am planning to go In San Francisco between the end of June and the beginning of July.
I am going with a friend and we are going to stay 3 days I guess.
Concerning our budget I don't have any idea yet, because San Francisco is the end of our west trip. I would like to see the famous place like the golden gate bridge, or street etc..
Do you have any suggestion ? What we don't have to miss ?
I take all the advise, especially concerning hotels and restaurant.

We were in San Francisco in March and we went on the Dylan's City tour(which also included going to Muir Woods). This was a great way to see the city and we went to some places we would have never found on our own. You also go across the Golden Gate bridge and stop at an overlook for a photo op. The tour starts at 10am and ends about 3:30pm. The cost was $65 and well worth the cost. This was our favorite day in SF. It is a great way to see the different sections of SF and then you can decide which areas you want to go back and visit. Muir Woods was beautiful-we loved seeing the redwood trees.

For a decent breakfast place downtown, I would suggest Sears Fine Foods. http://searsfinefood.com/

They are celebrating their 75th anniversary this year. At one time, their host was Sidney "Forever" Amber, who worked there well into his 100s.

If I were you, I would consider signing up for a walking tour. I live about an hour and a half south of SF, and do overnight visits a few times a year ... I did the "Real SF Tour" last year, and it was amazing. They take small groups (about 10 people) and you walk and also take public transportation (cable cars, BART, etc) and you really get to see a lot of the city and learn the history in an entertaining way. Great guides!

We did a city bus tour which gave an overview of all the sights. You can get on and off and it is good for a 24 hr. period.

We liked the Exploratorium on the wharf or pier.

Maybe take a day tour over to Sausalito. You can take the ferry over for the day.

We did not go but many sites rate Slanted Door as one of the top restaurants in the US. If you go you will need to make reservations weeks in advance - or asap!

You can do wonderful FREE walking tours, sponsored by SF Public Library. They are great and really let you see things you might otherwise miss. A $5 donation per person is nice, but not required.

Where you stay and eat depends on your money situation, what you like or dislike.

Not sure what the prices will be, but TheMosser.com is a great location for a hotel and sometime have rooms with shared bath that can be relatively inexpensive.
