Couple days in UT.. Help
Hi all,
I'm traveling to WA state in a couple weeks, then headed too Denver. In between, I'm going to UT. My original plans had to change (can't kayak in lake Powell cause of low water levels), and am overwhelmed with options. I already have a hotel in Moab, so I was thinking of just extending the stay there. If you had 2 days, what would you hit while there? I'm a decent hiker but slightly worried about the heat, so keeping them under 5 miles would be great. Thanks so much! |
Search the forums here for Moab. You will find trip reports and answers to the very same question you are asking. Start super early--6am and be done by 10 or 11--as far as hiking goes. Or head up to the La Sals where it is much cooler.

Flying, driving or taking trains? From Seattle it would be possible to take the Amtrak Coast Starlight overnight to Sacramento and spend several hours there and get on the California Zephyr to SLC. Rent a car in SLC to go to Moab. Avoid paying a big drop off fee on any rental car by returning where you rented it.

I'm flyin into SLC to meet a friend before we go on our way, then driving to Moab. Im flyig out of SLC a few days later.

um, thanks..not sure the point in your comment to tell me to do a search other than sounding rude. Isn't the point of the forum is to ask questions, otherwise, everyone could just google. But appreciate your time to stop to give such helpful advice.

Arches National Park and Canyonlands NP are two obvious choices.

What MmPerdu said. If you click StantonHydes name you can find several TRs and replies to questions that have been answered multiple times.

You're right..this may not be the place for me. I don't believe in telling someone to google or do their own search when they ask for advice, if thats what this forum has turned into. I got great advice the last time i used this, but obv things have changed. I'm glad im a better person than this and would either scroll by if I have no other advice than to tell someone to look elsewhere for their answers. Goodness gracious. have a great day.

I guess clicking on a user name to see detailed trip reports that have been viewed thousands (literally) of times is too much. I spend a long time writing those reports so that I can help my fellow travelers. I truly value the trip reports from others and have found excellent ideas and advice by searching for other queries. I also purchase Fodors guidebooks. When I pay money to travel, I want to have a good experience and I therefore do my research. This community has been my go to for a long time. Thanks to everyone who posts their trip reports!!!

It's a great thing to find one's community & sad when someone's looking right at it & can't see it. Oh, well, onward.
