Countdown To Oahu
Just over 30 days until our annual trip to paradise. This year, we are spending the entire two weeks on Oahu. The first week, we got a great deal through VRBO.com on a Kuilima condo at Turtle Bay. The second week is a time share at Hilton's new location in Waikiki (Grand Waikikian). We have a friend going with us who has never been to Hawaii, so we have a busy schedule planned. Here is our itinerary:
Sightseeing: NavaTek whale watch cruise Self guided circle island tour Dole Plantation Arizona Memorial Punchbowl Diamond Head climb Polynesian Cultural Center Iolani Palace Queen Emma's Summer Palace Doris Duke's House Mai Tai Catamaran sunset cruise Bishop Museum Shopping: Aloha Swap Meet International Market Aloha Tower Sunset Beach Farmers Market Island Princess Hilo Hatties Okawa Trading Waimanalo Shopping Plaza Restaurants: John Dominis Duke's Haliewa Eats The Shack La Mariana Ted's Bakery Jamesons Haliewa Joes The Breakers Giovanni's Shrimp Truck Leonards Malasadas Biba's CJ's Deli Asia Manoa Uncle's Fishmarket and Grill Puka Dog Ono Hawaiian Cheese Steak Chan's Chinese Buffett Oceanarium House Without a Key Don Ho's Island Grill Kalbee Aiki's Shave Ice Looks ambitious. What do you think. Of course, there will be a trip report when we return. |
Sounds great. I look forward to the trip report. I will be picking just a few of these things to do on my trip in September.
Here's my plan for my next trip to Hawaii:
1. Beach 2. Pool 3. Eat More power to you LOL!! |
sf7307: This is our eleventh trip to Oahu. I think we can get most of the sightseeing and all of the shopping done in five or six mornings. That still leaves a lot of time for maitai's at the pool.
elkhound, I hope you do! Actually, we're thinking of spending a week on Oahu in early May, and I'll keep your list handy. Although when we travel to Hawaii, we don't do much more than beach and a little poking around, I really want to spend more time on the "rest" of the island, even if that just means little towns, little restaurants and little shops! I'll print your list!
elkhound, I just pulled the trigger! $347 R/T SFO-HNL, and "free" hotel (meaning we exchanged our timeshare into the Marriott at KaOlina). Yippee!
sf7307: Sounds like a great deal. Must be nice to take advantage of the lower airfares from SFO to HNL. My fare from Denver was $1284 each when I booked backed in August. It's now down to $925. I read an article in USA Today about getting refunds from the airline if the fare drops after you make the purchase. I called United and they are sending me refund vouchers for $359 for each ticket.
Funny you should mention that - we are holding $197 in vouchers from United, which we will definitely apply to the SFO-HNL flight. Forgot about that!
