Beach holiday with baby

Where is a good holiday destination by the beach in March. I will have a 15 month old baby and would like to take a direct flight that is not too long. I will be flying from Chicago.

March will still be quite cool, so if you want to go swimming you pretty much are limited to southern beaches and even then you might find the water a bit brisk. Look at beach areas in south Florida (think Fort Lauderdale, Miami or the Keys), South Padre Island, Texas, or anywhere in southern California.

Perhaps this will give you some ideas? Suggestions include approximate flight times...

Which March, next March?

Pick a territory (PR, USVI). No guarantees for beach weather in Florida, South Texas or even S. California.

As previous posters said, March can still be quite cool, so you'll need to go to southern FL, the Caribbean, or Hawaii (we flew direct from Chicago to Honolulu on our honeymoon, but that could be a long flight with a toddler) for warmer temperatures.

One thing to look at when you're booking a resort is that they have kid-friendly pools, if not an actual kiddie pool. My kids (currently 3.5 and 15 months) have a lot of fun swimming and playing in the water, but they seem to have a pretty short attention span for the beach itself.

Cayman Air has 2 non stops/wk from ORDs intl terminal(really nice since they fixed it up) to the Caymans. From there its a short taxi ride to the best hotels. It makes a trip like yours very doable w/minimal hassle
