Coronado Island restaurant recommendations

Was going to surprise my husband w/a trip to Las Vegas for his b'day later this month, but we both just had bronchitis, and the thought of smoky, smelly casinos and hotels isn't appealing so instead, I'm thinking some sea air would be good for us.

I made a reservation for 3 nights at the Marriott on Coronado Island and now I'm looking for a restaurant suggestion for his b'day dinner. Would prefer seafood, on the water, and hopefully under $100 for the 2 of us (excluding liquor).

I would take the water taxi which lands right at your hotel and go over to the Gaslamp and walk a couple of blocks to Oceanaire.
Outstanding seafood and try and catch their happy hour or not..trying to stay in budget.

Fish Market Oyster Bar on the SD Bay has excellent seafood ..only eat at the O-bar, sushi, bay deck, upstairs..

Point Loma Seafood for lunch..calamari sandwich.
Anthony's Bayfront..you can get things that are not fried..

1500 Ocean at the Hotel Del..good but expensive.

Peohe's is right next door to your hotel..Chart House owned restaurant but very pricey and about average.

Brigantine for the best seafood happy hour everyday with fish tacos for $3..across from the Del.

Chez Loma is a lovely french rest.
that you could do under $100.

Check out the Segway rentals..rent around the gorgeous bayfront homes and golf course/bay/ocean/Del..

Even though it is a chain, the Il fornaio in Coronado is a lovely restaurant and immaculately positioned for a stellar view of San Diego across the bay/harbor.

I've heard great things about Oceanaire; friends just went to celebrate a birthday....a worthwhile splurge it seems.

I haven't been to Peohe in years but it was a bit dated when I was last there; maybe they've remodeled?

Chez Loma is a lovely setting as well. No view but in a historic home setting. cozy and romantic.

Hi ksucat! ....same here, :).

I LOVE doing happy hour, my favorite way to graze. I'll definitely get Oceanaire on the schedule soon. Thanks!

1st choice
1500 at Hotel Del for the B Day Dinner. (they also serve a fabulous Brunch where you would see the Ocean vs you would not see the ocean at dinner depending on time of year)

2nd choice
Top of the MArket same water taxi to downtown San Diego top of the building restaurant on a pier more elegant and on the Bay than Fish MArket casual restaurant downstairs.

3rd choice
Marine Room La Jolla on the ocean great French Chef food is very high end go early or dinner as the ocean comes right up to the windows on some high tides. I saw Chef Bernard yesterday & he said they are offering every Monday Australian Lobster dinner 40.00 a piece.

Oceanaire in Gaslamp has great seafood just not on the water.

Peohes is close to Marriot Coronado and the views of San Diego City across the Bay are lovely at night..but the food is horrible.

Point Loma Seafoods is on the Bay but cash only and very casual lunch spot only

1500 Ocean at Del is really good, this would be my first choice for a celebratory meal. For something casual, go to Miguel's Cocina across the street at the El Cordova Hotel. Rhinoceros Cafe on Orange Ave. is also a nice little cafe with great sandwiches and soups. ***kim*** ((l))

You should definetly eat at Brigatine's. Might not be fancy enough for your B'day dinner, but the food is really good.
1500 Ocean is great. Visit the Del in any case.
